Is Arnica Cream good for workout injuries?

I’ve always been a bit skeptical of Arnica Cream, but when I recently strained my hamstring, one of my friends convinced me to give it a try.

Arnica cream is a topical ointment made of an extract of the arnica plant. It’s been around since the early 1500s and it was the Native Americans who began using it to relieve pain associated with the muscles.

Today, it is commonly applied to sprains, bruises and strains. The active ingredients in arnica cream promote tissue healing, reduce swelling and inflammation, and ease pain. It’s also frequently used to soothe joint pain related to arthritis and to ease tired, sore, overworked muscles.

The directions are pretty easy — you just apply it liberally a couple of times a day. It’s not expensive (most health food stores will stock it) and it seemed to work, or at least help the healing process.
