### Is homosexuality legal in Bangladesh?

No. Bangladesh inherited its legal system from Britain during colonisation – this included a ban on sodomy which remains in force.

Punishment is imprisonment.

### Are there anti-discrimination protections in place for LGBTQ people in Bangladesh?

No.

While the constitution of Bangladesh includes a number of provisions that could be interpreted as providing protections to LGBTQ people, however these do not appear to have been tested in court in that context.

### Is there Marriage Equality in Bangladesh?

There is no legal recognition of same-sex relationships.

### What’s life like for LGBTQ people in Bangladesh?

A socially conservative society, homosexuality is a taboo subject in Bangladesh.

Homophobia is systemic, and LGBTQ people are forced to conceal their sexuality.
