### Is homosexuality legal in Denmark?

Yes. Homosexuality was decriminalised in 1933.

The age-of-consent was equalised in 1977.

### Are there anti-discrimination protections in place for LGBTQ people in Denmark?

Yes. Comprehensive anti-discrimination provisions came into force in 1996.

### Is there Marriage Equality in Denmark?

Yes.Denmark was the first country in the world to create legal recognition for same-sex relationships. This happened in 1989.

Marriage Equality was embraced by Denmark in 2012.

### What’s life like for LGBTQ people in Denmark?

The annual Rainbow Map from ILGA ranks all of the countries of Europe based on an assessment of LGBTQ equality indicators.

Denmark has again performed strongly in the assessment, placing 5th overall in the ranking.

With an overall score of 85.1%, where Denmark lost most points was on the Asylum criteria, as well as Intersex Bodily Integrity.

With a vibrant and visible queer community - particularly in the capital, Copenhagen - Denmark continues to be one of the best countries in the world if you're a gay.
