Yes. All prohibitions against sodomy were repealed in 1791.

The age-of-consent is equal, regardless of sexuality.

France is a country that – since the revolution – has prided itself on being a socially liberal society.

In general, France is a welcoming and accepting place for LGBTQ people, and has a vibrant and visible LGBTQ community.

In the recent [ILGA report on LGBTQ equality in Europe](https://rainbowmap.ilga-europe.org/countries/france/?ref=gtv.blue), France was ranked 15th overall. With a score of 60.25%, France scored positively on most indicators, but lost most of its points on the criteria of Hate Crime & Hate Speech and Intersex Bodily Integrity.
