### Is homosexuality legal in Malawi?

No. Same-sex sexual activity is prohibited and subject to a penalty of 14 years prison. 

### Are there anti-discrimination protections in place for LGBTQ people in Malawi

No. There are no protections against discrimination on the grounds of sexuality.

### Is there Marriage Equality in Malawi?

No. There is no legal recognition of same-sex relationships. 

In 2015, the legislation that covers marriage was amended to specifically limit marriage to opposite-sex couples.

### What’s life like for LGBTQ people in Malawi?

Malawi is a socially conservative country. Homosexuality is seen as a taboo subject.
