### Is homosexuality legal in Monaco?

Yes. Same-sex sexual activity was decriminalised in 1793.

The age of consent is 15, regardless of sexuality.

### Are there anti-discrimination protections in place for LGBTQ people in Monaco?

Yes. Anti-discrimination protections were enacted in 2011.

### Is there Marriage Equality in Monaco?

No. Same-sex couples can enter into a cohabitation agreement which provides a limited set of rights and obligations.

### What’s life like for LGBTQ people in Monaco?

Monaco is a socially conservative country, and attitudes towards homosexuality have been strongly shaped by the Catholic church. However, given its proximity to Europe, Monaco is generally accepting and welcoming of LGBTQ people.

In the [ILGA report on LGBTQ Equality in Europe](https://rainbowmap.ilga-europe.org/countries/monaco/?ref=gtv.blue), Monaco was ranked 43rd overall. With a total score of 13.7%, scored well on Civil Society Space but barely registered any points on the other criteria.
