### Is homosexuality legal in Norway?

Yes. It was decriminalised in 1972.

Yes. Protections were implemented in 1981 – one of the first countries in the world to protect people from discrimination on the basis of sexuality.

Yes. Marriage Equality was adopted in 2009.

### What’s life like for LGBTQ people in Norway?

Norway is one of the countries at the forefront of LGBTQ equality.

In the recent [ILGA report on LGBTQ Equality in Europe](https://rainbowmap.ilga-europe.org/countries/norway/?ref=gtv.blue), Norway was ranked 8th overall. With a total score of 68.60%, Norway scored strongly across most assessed criteria, losing most points on Hate Crime & Hate Speech as well as Intersex Bodily Integrity.
