Inspired by the enduring rumour that Churchill’s government commissioned pornographic films to boost troop morale, Richard Hawkins’ film, Think of England, blends psychological drama with moments of dark humour.

Set in the summer of 1943, Think of England follows six disparate people sent to the Orkney Islands to create a series of clandestine pornographic films to support the war effort – one for the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. Haunted and traumatised by the events of the war, the group includes a damaged former movie star soldier, a German-Jewish refugee director and a munitions worker with ambitions to become an actress. As filming progresses, personalities clash and dark secrets emerge.

The film explores morality, censorship, power and performance against the backdrop of war. A wartime psychological drama and a film about cinema itself, it asks what happens when deeply held values collide with the demands of survival.

The cast includes Jack Bandeira, Natalie Quarry, Ronni Ancona, John McCrea, Ben Bela Böhm, Ollie Maddigan, and Oscar Hoppe.

**THINK OF ENGLAND is released in cinemas from 6 November 2026 by Tull Stories.**
