A guide to male intimacy: Bathing
Connect in a different way while relaxing in water.
There's nothing new about homosocial communal bathing - having your own bathroom and bathing by yourself is a relatively recent innovation. Throughout history, lots of cultures have understood the power of communal bathing to create social opportunities and build connections between men.
But what if we made a communal bathing experience a bit more intimate?

I've recently been offering a service that I'm loosely describing as a Tantric bathing ritual.
It's a one-on-one experience - I bathe the client.
Tantra is a really broad term that is often incorrectly used to describe lots of different things, but in this context we're drawing on mindfulness, intention, and being present in the act of bathing.
I fill the bath, light some candles, and add some mood music.
It's a sensual experience without being overtly sexual. The client needs to be vulnerable enough to let another man bathe him - to be open to touch and a new level of intimacy.
For most men, it's the first time that they've experienced something like this. For many, it's their first exposure to any form of communal bathing.
The bathing ritual that I'm offering is a prelude to a massage - it's the perfect way to help a guy relax and get into the right headspace for a full-body massage.
But the more that I experience how the bathing ritual works, it's clear that this could be a really useful way to explore intimacy within a relationship or between friends.
Here's how to make it happen:
- Propose the concept. Get your partner on board with the idea of letting you bathe him.
- Schedule it in. Allocate a date and time when it's going to happen - you don't want to be rushed, you don't want to be distracted. Call it a date night or whatever works in the context of your relationship.
- Prepare the bath. Fill the tub, get the temperature right, add some high-quality bath-oil or foaming soap. Candles instantly help to create an intimate vibe. Choose a soundtrack that fits the mood that you're going for - it doesn't have to be whale sounds but something a bit zen is ideal.
- At the appointed time, invite him to get comfortable in the bath. Give him a few minutes to do this by himself.
- As you begin the ritual, don't immediately jump into the bath with him. Position yourself beside the bath and use a soft sponge to gently begin to bathe him.
- Encourage him to relax, to let you do the work. There's no need to take any of this too seriously - have a laugh with each other as the experience unfolds, but you do need to maintain your intention otherwise the whole exercise becomes a bit pointless.
- At some point, it will make sense for you to join him in the bath but continue to maintain the focus on him, bathing him, using your sponge or wash-cloth to explore every aspect of his body. This is obviously much easier if you have a big bathtub but it's possible even in a confined space.
- Avoid giving too much attention to his cock. It's likely that he'll become aroused but let that sexual energy gradually build - if your start to get cock-focused, you'll both get distracted by stroking instead of allowing yourselves to just immerse yourself in the experience.
- The technique that you're aiming for is to build the sexual energy and help involve every part of his body in that - not just his cock. In a way, you're treating his entire body like one giant cock.
- Figure out which of his erogenous zones are responding most to the bathing ritual. For example, he's probably going to enjoy the friction of the sponge across his nipples. His inner thighs are likely to be quite sensitive. Make sure that you spend plenty of time on his feet. Mix things up by sucking his toes - if you've got him relaxed and vulnerable, he's really going to enjoy the feeling of your mouth on his toes.
- Have a plan for what you're going to do after you've bathed him. How are you going to lean into the sexual energy that you've created? Will you give him a massage? Will you take him into the bedroom and fuck him? Will he fuck you? Intimacy in the bath is fun but fucking in the bath is a little less practical.
- Have fluffy towels and a robe ready so that you can seamlessly conclude the bathing ritual as you both step out of the tub. Dry his body, dress him in a robe - use plenty of touch and body contact to sustain the intimacy that you've established.
- He's going to be clean, he's going to smell good, and he's going to be super-horny. Now, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labours.
