Alcibiades lived from 450 BC until 404 BC.
An Athenian statesman and general. Alcibiades played a major role in the second half of the Peloponnesian War as a strategic advisor, military commander, and politician.
He is also known as one of the most-favoured students of Socrates. It is documented by contemporary sources that Socrates had a sexual relationship with Alcibiades. Socrates reportedly had sexual relationships with many of his young students, but contemporaries describe Alcibiades as the clear favourite.
It is widely documented that Alcibiades was physical attractiveness - an asset that he didn't hesitate to use to his advantage.
As a skilled orator and strategic thinker, Alcibiades held enormous power in Ancient Athens but he fell from prominence when his adversaries moved against him - alleging that he was wasting the city's money on extravagant luxuries and boys.
It's believed that Alcibiades was ultimately assassinated by his rivals.
