Grabbys Spotlight: Ready to party?
Sergio Montoya takes us behind-the-scenes of throwing parties for porn-stars.
As we count down towards the Grabby Awards in Torremolinos, we caught up with Sergio Montoya for a behind-the-scenes look at the parties he's got planned for the men of the adult entertainment industry.
Sergio, you're in charge of the parties that happen as part of the Grabby Awards. What's the objective that you're working to with the parties? What do they add to the overall experience of the Grabbys?
The parties are all about helping to make the Grabbys as big as possible. We want more people to come each year, and we want everyone to have fun and really enjoy the experience.
As well as the parties at the different venues, you're also responsible for a Moulin Rouge party at The Ritual - what will that involve?
I've been putting on shows for many years. It's not just about putting on a good show but we want everyone to feel part of the show. We want it to be interactive. There's going to be flamenco!
Your target audience for these events and these parties are the attendees at the Grabbys. Are porn stars a difficult audience to throw a party for? Do they have high expectations?
It's almost the opposite. Everyone is very respectful - they're here to have and enjoy themselves. Porn-stars are wonderful people.
What makes Torremolinos a good place to party and a good destination for people to visit?
It's a very queer-friendly destination. You can kiss in the street, you can hold hands, you can dress however you want to dress - no one is going to look at you or single you out.
What do you hope that everyone feels when they're at the parties that you've organised for the Grabbys?
I want to hear good things about the parties - that people have had a good time. But I also appreciate criticism or constructive feedback - that helps to improve things for next year and to make the Grabbys even better.
