Grabbys Spotlight: Legrand Wolf
Targeting trophies in the adult industry awards.
As we count down towards this year's Grabby Awards, we caught up with Legrand Wolf, nominated for Performer of the Year.
What do the Grabby Awards mean to you?
The Grabbys USA are probably the most straightforward, honest, fan-driven award show we have. To be nominated or to participate feels like a real honour.
There aren’t that many award shows in this industry that carry genuine legitimacy — a lot of them are very flashy, very glamorous, very much about the spectacle. The Grabbys USA aren’t about that. They’re really about letting fans say, “This matters to me. This is something I’m excited about.” That’s what makes them special.
Whether I win or lose, just showing up alongside my co-nominees and fellow performers — we’re all participating in something genuinely lovely.
As well as recognition of your personal work in front of the camera, Carnal is represented across numerous categories. When you launched Carnal, was this aspiration? Were you building something that would be recognised by the industry in this way?
When we launched Carnal, we had already built a very successful company — one that was taken from us by another company in 2018 through a dishonest licensing deal. They took everything from us and we had to start over from nothing. That company still operates today.
Within one year of launching Carnal, my goal was simply to surpass what we had built before. We did it in six months — we were twice the size. Now, six years later, we’ve become the largest gay adult streaming network in the world.
This year will be one of the most exciting in Carnal’s history as we surpass yet another benchmark in both growth and success that we set for ourselves — especially in an environment that is extraordinarily difficult to stand out in.
There are real challenges: piracy, the lack of meaningful regulation around it, and governments with individuals in positions of power who are very interested in shutting down adult content. They claim to be protecting children with age verification laws, when what they’re really trying to do is shut down pornography altogether. The piracy environment, the legislative environment — it’s tricky. But there is incredible opportunity if you think clearly about what business you’re actually in and stay focused. I’ve always seen that, and that’s what drives me.
My aspiration was absolutely to build one of the largest, most impactful companies in this space. But more fundamentally, we believe gay pornography changes the world. We believe gay men are held back by shame — especially shame around sexuality. In an environment where OnlyFans exists and fans our still hungry for what we make, we can create something brilliant. We can create a home that allows performers to shine, connect with an audience, and actually grow — not just exist on a feed somewhere.
Does there come a point when you step away from performing, or is there something that continues to motivate you?
I’ll be honest — I’m not naturally an exhibitionist. Once I’m on set, the creative process takes over and gives me something very real to work with. For me, it’s about creating something special with an audience and for an audience — and those are very different things.
I do see the Legrand Wolf character - and the characters we build across our various fantasy worlds - as exactly that, characters. Fully constructed, intentional creative personas. As long as there’s something meaningful to create within that, I’ll keep showing up for it.
