What to watch: Raid

A recent release from Noel Alejandro is Raid - a four-part series of interwoven stories.

Existing in a dream-like state, Alejandro describes the narrative as tales of hedonism in tumultuous times.

Episode 1: Guardian Angels

Felix (Lars)  and Tomas (Mike) are hanging out in the bathroom. Their friend is out of it, and they’re trying to cool him down in the bathtub. They’re supposed to keep an eye on him, but the attraction between them is so strong, they can barely keep their eyes off of each other. They can’t even hear the guy banging on the door.

Episode 2: Schubertiade

With the party on its last legs, a group of friends linger in the living room. A grating tune on the piano interrupts the foreplay between Caleb, Tomas and Marc, but soon, the notes somehow start falling into place as a soothing Schubert melody. The three friends stare quietly, or maybe defiantly, at the source of the music. When the piano stops, the real action begins on the couch.

Episode 3: La espina

A room full of flowers. A blissful piano tune. The aftermath of an eventful night. In the centre, a flower arrangement session unfolds. A knock at the door interrupts the calm. On the way back, a glance into the kitchen reveals something unexpected. In the living room, the soft ritual of arranging blooms turns into something far more intimate, as the last discordant notes of notes of Schubert fill the air.

Episode 4: Brillo inmediato

It’s the morning after an intense night, but the party is not over yet for Adrián (Javier). As he walks into the kitchen looking for something to keep him going, he finds Alex (Diego) ready to leave, frantically looking for his glucometer. However, Adrián has other plans in mind, as he persuades Alex to do a quick shot. Quickly, the worries of the outside world are left behind, one last time.
