The creative team at He's Behind You! specialise in pantos for adults, and they've got a strong track record of delivering laugh-out-loud entertainment with a big slice of filthy humour.
This year's production has been announced as Cinderella: Buttons Undone!
A reimagined version of the Cinderella story, this production swaps royal courts for tennis courts, fairy godmothers for fortune tellers, and proves that happily-ever-after can take more self-work than finding Prince Charming.
Cindy is a hotel maid in a faded seaside resort. Her chance of escape seems to arrive in the form of a champion tennis player. But things don't go to plan when Cindy's friend, Buttons, ends up in the tennis player's bed.
Directed by Andrew Beckett, the production is co-written by Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper. Leading the cast are Matthew Baldwin and Chris Lane.
We’ll be celebrating all the famous Cinderella moments, but not quite as you’d expect..." explains Jon Bradfield. "Making theatre that people look forward to with friends as their Christmas treat each year is a joy, especially when you can make it with a team that you respect, love and trust. Adult panto doesn’t just allow us to make the kind of toxically rude jokes that I feel embarrassed about if I have family watching. It gives us the freedom to tell gay-centred stories within a big, shiny, magical, epic, popular and uniquely theatrical form."
