A gay man's guide to Walthamstow Marshes
How to find the naked sunbathing area.
I am absolutely not an expert at this, but I just wanted to try and document - for myself - how to find the naked sunbathing area of Walthamstow Marshes.
Walthamstow Marshes is out past Hackney, in the north-east of London. It's a string of flood-plains that border the River Lea.
The easiest way to get there is to cycle. If cycling isn't an option, I think St James Street would be the closest tube station.
The bit that you're aiming for is circled in red on the map below.
I entered from near the Lee Valley Ice Centre and then cycled in from there.
This isn't an officially designated naked sunbathing area, and it may shift around a bit depending on what maintenance work or development is being done, but if you aim for somewhere around here then you should pretty much just be able to follow the gays to figure out where everyone is.
It's naked sunbathing surrounded by cruising - all guys.
It's pretty much gay heaven.
