Fringe Spotlight: Friendliest
Drew Lausch is pitching a new super-hero.
Drew Lausch brings Friendliest to the Edinburgh Fringe - his show about creating the world's first gay superhero.
In a high-stakes pitch meeting with a major comic book company, Drew is determined to sell his outrageous new hero. But, as the pitch unravels, so does he. What begins as a comic book concept quickly becomes something far more personal as he confronts the story behind the hero and the life that shaped him.
"I grew up believing I was the hero of my own coming out story..." says Drew Lausch. "Writing Friendliest forced me to confront the possibility that I was actually the villain in someone else’s. Comedy turned out to be the only way to tell that truth."
Friendliest is on at the Gilded Balloon until 31 August
