In the latest annual report from ILGA, Iceland was ranked third overall when the European countries were assessed against a range of equality criteria.
Scoring 84.06%, Iceland placed behind Malta and Belgium.
In the assessment, Iceland was one of the few countries to score positively on the criteria of Intersex Bodily Integrity, but areas of improvement were identified as Asylum Seeking, and also Hate Crime & Hate Speech.
